Importance of Cleaning Your Leather!

Here’s the deal…One of the most common questions we get is “How well will the new leather cover match with the rest of my interior?”  The Seat Shop spends countless time and effort to ensure that our replacement leather seat covers will match with the original interior color.  That being said, it is important for our customers to take the time to clean the old leather to achieve the spot on color match that we work so hard to provide.  Over time, oils and grime will build up on the leather.  This builds up a “glossy” shine, and can make the leather appear darker than it really is.  A new replacement leather seat cover from The Seat Shop will not have this “worn in” shine, so cleaning the existing leather is key to achieving a great color match.  CLICK HERE TO WATCH OUR LEATHER CLEANING VIDEO.  Below is a picture of a seat top that we were cleaning last week during an install.  We were replacing the driver bottom leather cover, and cleaned the top as well.  In this picture, only the top center panel and left panel had been cleaned.  You can see the “glossy” shine that is on the other panels making them appear darker than the cleaned sections.
